The outflow of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River in Qinghai increased, and Qinghai Lake continued to expand.

  The latest issue of Qinghai Water Resources Bulletin 2022 shows that the rainfall in the upper reaches of the Yellow River and the Yangtze River in Qinghai is abundant, and the outbound water volume is increasing. Qinghai Lake, the largest inland saltwater lake in China, continues to expand.

  According to the Bulletin, in 2022, the self-produced surface water resources in the Yellow River basin in Qinghai were 1% more than the average value of hydrological series from 1956 to 2016, and the Yangtze River basin was 10.9% more. The outflow of surface water in the province was 65.884 billion cubic meters, 9.6% more than the average for many years. Among them, the outflow of surface water from the Yellow River basin is 28.556 billion cubic meters, and that from the Yangtze River basin is 20.316 billion cubic meters.

  The average water level of Qinghai Lake in 2022 was 3,196.57 meters, and the water level rose by 0.11 meters during the year. The lake area was 4,531.8 square kilometers, an increase of 6.8 square kilometers, and the water storage capacity increased by 500 million cubic meters.
